Seun Kuti and his wife, Yeide

Nigerian Afrobeat musician, Seun Kuti was spotted with his partner, Yeide yesterday at the 61st Grammys, but unfortunately for the Afrobeat artiste he  lost in his first attempt to win a Grammy award after being nominated in the best world music album category.

Seun Kuti who was nominated alongside Bombino (Deran), Fatoumata Diawara (Fenfo), Soweto Gospel Choir (Freedom) and Yiddish Glory (The Lost Songs of World War II) for Best World Music Album lost the award to South Africa’s Soweto Gospel Choir who won their third Grammy award, making them the most successful African group in the award’s history.

Seun's elder brother, Femi Kuti has been nominated for the Grammys four times, but failed to win in 2003, 2010, 2012 and in 2014

Both Femi and Seun are sons of late Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti.
