NIGERIANS FLEE SOUTH AFRICA AS TWO NIGERIANS KILLED!

Xenophobic attack in South Africa

Two Nigerians have reportedly been killer in South Africa in a fresh Xenophobic attacks which began in Krugersdorp, near Johannesburg, South Africa.

According to Mr. Cyril James, the Ward Chairman of the Nigerian Union in Krugersdorp, in telephone chat with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the attacks started on 18th of Januaty, 2018, when a mob alleged that a Nigerian abducted a South African girl and raped her.

"The South Africans attacked our homes and shops, destroyed all we have. Many Nigerians suffered severe injuries during the attack. We have left our homes for safety because the South Africans are regrouping to attack us again", James said.

Corroborating Mr. James, President of the union, !r. Adetola Olubajo reiterated that the situation was worrisome and pathetic.

" I  can confirm that Nigerians in the area have been attacked. I am amazed and emotionally down as calls from panicled Nigerians flooded my phone from various Provinces.

"The South African government needs to be engaged at the highest level to avoid further lose of lives and property of our citizens".

He stressed further that since the attacked began two Nigerians had been gruesomely killed in Rustenburg and Durban in South Africa.

"Two Nigerians have been killed, many displaced and injured in fresh Xenophobic attacks and extra-judicial killings". Shops and houses owned by some Nigerians in Rustenburg were burnt by taxi drivers who claimed that Nigerians sold drugs to a gang that attacked their members, and that a Nigerian abducted a 16-year-old South African girl and raped.

However, the Nigerian Union denied the allegation, saying that " the allegations are false as no Nigerian has been arrested for rape or drug of fence"
