Meek Mill Jailed For Probation Violation

Photo of Meek Mill

American rap star, Meek Mill has been sentenced to 2 - 4 years in prison for probation violation in a drug and weapons case. He was on house arrest in 2015 for leaving Pennsylvania for a party without approval from court.

Mill was arrested in March at St. Louis airport for fighting. He was also arrested in New York in August for recklessly driving his motorcycle.  When sentencing Mill on Monday, Common Pleas Judge Genece Brinkley cited a failed drug test and a failure to comply with a court order restricting his travel.

The sentence came as a surprise after prosecutors recommend Mill not to be imprisoned for the probation violation s, noting he's been off drugs since January and has complied with most requirements of probation.

Mill's lawyer has promised to appeal. Meanwhile Brinkley said she has been trying to help Mill for about 10 years but he does whatever he likes.
