Famous Lagos Wrestler, Power Uti Arraigned For Alleged Murder Of His Eife

Famous Lagos Wrestler, John Eke Uti,55, popularly known as Power Uti was arraigned before Rbute Magistrates' Court, Lagos yesterday for allegedly killing his wife, Toyin,38.

The 55-year-old wrestler was appeared  before Magistrate Bola Folarin-Williams on a 2-count charge of murder and disrespect of corpse.

When Magistrate Williams went through Power Uti's case file, she said she did not see anything both in the accused statement and on the police investigations to show that the accused killed his wife snd quashed the remand application brought by the police.

She, therefore, admitted the accused to a bail of N500,000 with two responsible sureties in like sum, who must be blood relations snd also work with reputable organisations.

She directed that the case file should be duplicated and a copy forwarded to the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPPs) for legal advice.

Before now, the prosecutor, Sgt. Jimoh Iseghede had told the court that the accused committed the offended on October 10 about 10:25 p.m. at No. 17 Oremeji St., Ilupeju, Lagos.

He alleged that Power Uti beat his 38-year-old wife to death and abandoned the corpse in a room to decompose. After everything at the court, the case was adjourned to Nov. 15.
