Villas-Boas Faces Ban, $6,000 Fine In Chinese League For Insulting Referee


Portuguese national and Coach of Shanghai SIPG, Andre Villas-Boas has been slammed a ban of 8-game touch line and a fine of $6,000 (40,000 yuan) by China Fooybal Association for insulting a referee.

The condition for 8-game ban is that Villas-Boas will be restricted from the touch line for 4 Chinese Super League games and 4  official games hosted by the FA.

With just four games to end of the season their coach is faced with the ban and fine, the club is four points behind league leaders, Guangzhou Evergrande.

According to the FA, he "insulted" and made "insulting gestures" at the referee on September 22, during a match between Shanghai SIPG and Beijing Guoan at 78th minute. The game ended 1 - 0 in favour of Shanghai SIPG.
