Pope Dismisses German Cardinal Who Led Vatican's Doctrine Watchdog

Pope Francis on Friday sacked the German Cardinal, Gerhard Mueller in charge of the Vatican doctrine watchdog after spending five years.

On July 2, 3012, the 69-year-old German cardinal became the Prefect of Congregation for Doctrine of the Faith (CDF)

Mueller has been known as a critic of Pope Francis' landmark Amoris Laetitia document which in 2016 suggested that people who were divorced and remarried could, under special circumstances, be allowed to take the Holy Communion.

Also in March this year, German Cardinal's congregation was accused by clergy sex abuse survivor, Marie Collins of resisting the work of a papal commission on child protection. She resigned from the commission as a result of CDF's  unlawful attitude.
