Doctors In Kogi To Embark On Indefinite Strike Over Non Payment Of Doctor's Salaries

The doctors in Kogi State will embark on drike action tomorrow over non payment of doctors' salaries by the state government.

The Kogi chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has ordered their members to embark on an indefinite strike due to government's failure to pay.

It was concluded in a meeting today that the strike would commence tomorrow Wednesday May 3, according to the Chairman, Dr Tijani Godwin and the Secretary, Dr Xubair Kabiru in Lokoja.

The NMA expressed disappointment over government’s inability to pay the doctors’ salaries and arrears as agreed two months ago and wondered why it was difficult for the government to fulfill basic commitments.

“We have presented our demands to the government, but none has been met; we are left with no other option than to go on strike,” the association said.
