Samuel Onnoghen Appointed As The Chief Justice Of Nigeria

The acting Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Walter Samuel Nkanu Onnoghen has been appointed as the substantive Chief Justice, Onnoghen was screened today by the Senate led by the Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki.

Onnoghen was born on December 22, 1950 at Okurike Town, Biased local government, Cross River State. He studied law at the University of Ghana, Legon, Ghana in the year 1977.

As a graduate of Law, in 1978, he proceeded to Lagos Law school. After the Law school, Onnoghen joined the Supreme Court and became a judge in his native home , Cross River.

He was nominated by President Muhammadu Buhari and assumed office as acting Chief Justice of Nigeria since 2016.
