Police Can't Stop Tuface's Rally Says Adegboruwa

Nigerian music star, Innocent Idibia also known as Tuface or 2baba has scheduled a peaceful rally to come up on the 6th February,2017. The purpose of the rally is to protest against the suffering of the poor masses and lingering economic hardship in the country. They will move between two national assets, from Ntional Stadium in Surulere to National Art Theater in Igamu, Lagos.

The rally which seems to be politically motivated might not have it way on the scheduled date. Besides being thought to be politically motivated, the Nigeria Police believe the peaceful protest maybe hijacked by hoodlums which poses treat to the lives of the people and the environs.

In a statement, the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State , Fatai Owoseni said the rally would not allow the rally to hold because it could be easily hijacked by hoodlums.

He said, "We know Tuface does not have the capacity to contain such a crowd and we will not fold our hands and watch while things go out of hand.

On the contrary, a Law practitioner, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa said police can not stop the proposed peacefully rally  organised byTuface. He said the issue of police permit for citizens to gather has expired with the 1999 constitution. Adegboruwa drew the attention of Commission of Police to the relevant section of the constitution.

"Section 39 grants freedom of expression, including right to be heard and to disseminate information and ideas.
Section 40 grants the right to associate and gather together. Section 38 grants the right to freedom of movement and peaceful assembly."
